Fact-Check AI Like an Editor
Catch an AI’s mistakes against its source: wrong numbers, names and dates, “all” where it says “most”, dropped conditions and invented lines, then sort any claim as supported or not.

What it teaches
The habit that makes AI safer to use at work (no tip removes every mistake): checking what it wrote against the source it was given. Wrong numbers, names and dates, a “rose” that should be “fell”, “all” where the source says “most”, a condition that quietly disappeared, a number pinned to the wrong group, and sentences the source never said. Then sorting a claim into supported, contradicted, or not in the source. The AI tutor shows a short source and an AI answer, you find the mistakes, and it grades you against mistakes planted and checked by script.
How long
36 items. About 30-55 rounds plus a 12-item final: 2 sessions (estimate, not timed with a real student). The tutor gives a one-line save code at the end of each session.
The modules
4 modules, drilled one item at a time.

- Checked by script
- Every AI answer is built from a correct summary, with mistakes planted in all but one; each mistake’s source line is in the passage word for word and its wrong claim is not; every number in the correct parts is in the passage; every “supported / contradicted / not in the source” label is checked the same way. 23 planted mistakes of 8 kinds (the find-every-mistake answers reuse some of the spot-one mistakes).
- Sourced
- What a hallucination is (Google’s ML Glossary) and how to cut them down (Anthropic’s “Reduce hallucinations” page); 8 short quotes matched word for word on 2026-10-10.
- Made up on purpose
- The passages (memos, notices, reports) are invented for practice.
- Not in it yet
- Long documents, tables and charts, code, checking against the open web.
